Safety Instructions
It is exciting and interesting to meet new people. However, your safety comes first. You should always be careful meeting a new person physically or online. Please understand that you are the master of your will and you can do things that can protect you cause you cannot control others will.
When you are online you should consider the following:
- Never share your personal information online i.e. your home/work address, ID card number or your day to day dwelling routes.
- Do not share your any sort of financial information i.e. credit card number or bank information.
- Do not let others overwhelm you. If you find someone creating pressure to you, you can cancel the deal anytime.
- Be aware of leaving PetIt. External links can cause harm to your device and thus yourself.
- Do not download any file from the person you do not trust.
- Try not to share your phone number unless you are fully convinced that you can rely on that person.
- Never share your username or password to any user because PetIt will never ask you those kind of information.
When you are going to meet a user in person then you should consider the following:
- Do not rush. Do not engage someone with a pet adoption unless you are fully convinced. It is a good practice to know that person in audio or video call before meeting in person. Also, do not forget that you can always negotiate on your terms.
- Try to meet in a public location. Do not go to someone’s home or private place. Rather meet in a park or restaurant or etc.
- Your safety matters. So, try not to take any kind of food or drinks from another person.
- Tell your family or friend about your negotiation and about your meeting. It is wise not to travel alone so keeping a company of them is nice.
- Try to use your own vehicle or transportation rather using someone else’s unless you know and trust them (e.g. family or friend).
- You are master of your own will. If you feel somewhere uncomfortable or if a deal does not go accordingly as your will or plan, you can leave that place anytime and cancel the deal. However, try not to be rude to that other person but remember that your safety comes first.
Potential Fraud
Beware of potential frauds. If you engage with any kind of financial transaction to a user then it is your responsibilty and it is also your responsibility to check and ensure on the spot. Remember, before the deal has been completed, you can cancel it any time.
Also, make sure you check the condition and quality of the pet before completing the deal.
